We provide charitable tax receipts for all donations of more than $25.
Adopt a Mother
$47/ month With a charitable tax deduction, the cost to Canadians is about $31/ month, depending upon where you live in Canada and your situation (see note at bottom of page and check with your accountant). If you prefer to make one payment of $564 for the year, please go to the ‘donate’ button at bottom of page.
Your adopted mother will teach a group of at least five children, so your donation actually helps children from several families.
Your adopted mother will send letters and photos to you – as well as the odd video clip – on a regular basis throughout the year.
If you live in the Toronto area, Christine, of Christine’s Fitness will also give you a free membership for 3 months.

Adopt a School

By sponsoring a school, you will be supporting at least 100 children in their education for a year.
A key strategy to ensure sustainability is teaching the mothers to create learning materials and helping them to monitor the progress of their own and their children’s work.
Your school will train mothers to make inexpensive learning materials and share progress with you over the year by e-mails, reports, photos and video clips.
Mothers feel empowered when they create and use their own materials to teach children and the culture of learning becomes a powerful force in the household.
New school locations are selected based on applications received and must have met the following criterion:
• mothers must have limited or no formal education themselves;
• mothers must commit to attending school 5 days per week;
• mothers must commit to teaching a group of at least 5 neighbourhood children in their own dwelling/home.
You can name your school. You’ll receive a yearbook, information about the neighbourhood, quarterly reports with photos and videos with detailed information about the progress made (presented in an interesting way) as well as monthly newsletters.

By adopting a neighbourhood, sponsors will be supporting 25 children through the mothers. You will receive a yearbook, quarterly progress reports, video clips and detailed information about the neighbourhood.

Don’t forget …
… when you make a donation to a registered charity, you may be eligible for tax deductions. Amarok Society provides charitable tax receipts for Canadians and can also provide charitable tax receipts for citizens of the United States through a sister organization, FreeSchools.
It’s a good idea to get this information from your financial advisor, but in Ontario, for instance, you receive a 20.5% tax deduction for your first $200 contribution. For the amount over $200, the tax deduction is 40.16%. You need to check with your accountant respecting your personal situation and because these non-refundable tax rebates combine federal and provincial tax credit, the amount varies depending on in which province one lives.
So, if you live in Ontario and have claimed no other contributions to registered charities, Adopting a Mother will cost only about $31/ month and Adopting a Child will actually cost about $19/ month. But do check with your financial advisor to get the exact number for your situation.
